Sample Client Solutions

Client 1 Research and design of a suite of analytical tools for Intrusion Detection System devices deployed in large scale enterprise Networks. The software collates data from all local Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) devices on the Network using a standard transport supported by both modern and legacy equipment; the data is then filtered by an intelligent internal engine then forwarded to an analyst’s sorted by the priority of the monitored event. The beta version of the software was written by our consultants in three months and was evaluated by a panel of engineers for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for possible insertion in Government Network facilities.

Client 2 Installation and configuration of two Linux and FreeBSD servers that members of the public had access too. The following popular software was configured and utilized by the servers: Qmail smtpd for sending and receiving Email. OpenSSH for public terminal access. Stunnel for the POP3S encrypted mail retrieval protocol. Bind (on authoritive name servers) for domain name and IP address lookup. Apache Web server with SSL, MySQL, PHP4 and SSI components was installed for web content distribution. SQWebmail so users may retrieve their Email via the web page. IPF firewall software, with custom written rule sets to protect servers from possible attacks and hack attempts. The servers also had custom security software written by our consultants in the perl and C programming languages, which provided both audit and integrity checking capabilities to both servers.

Client 3 John Designed and assembled a Network file server that utilizes the popular FreeBSD Operating system, The Server itself was built around the x86 architecture with SCSI-3 hardware and hard disks. The Server was built on a Dell PowerEdge 6300 and was configured to use RAID 1 to ensure data integrity. The server allows for an automatic configuration and installation of the Mandrake Linux Operating System over the local Network on all newly built Computers sold by a local Computer retail store. The server also runs Samba which allows Microsoft Windows and other systems to mount and use one of the server’s hard disk which contain all the stores hardware driver and utility diskettes, for quick and easy deployment. The stores local network was also modified to create a new switched 100mbps segment that hooks directly into their technical workbenches, so that multiple network installations of the Operating System could be installed at the same time. Our consultants hardened the FreeBSD 4.8 Operating system against intrusion by using custom created programs and scripts created for this task and also enabled known security options built into the operating system.
Other software utilized:
ISC Dhcpd (DHCP server)
IPF (IP Filter Firewall)
Apache + SSL (Web server with secure socket layer support)
Qmail (Mail server software)
